Prof. Dr. Wilfried De Backer

Prof. De Backer attained his specialist degree in internal medicine at the University of Antwerp. He currently is director of the department of respiratory medicine at the university hospital in Antwerp. He is the author of numerous books and papers on pulmonary medicine, published in international journals. Prof. De Backer also is an internationally recognized expert in sleep medicine. As a believer in new methods in pulmonary medicine, Prof De Backer founded FluidDA to support new developments through interdisciplinary research.

Dr. Ir. Catherine Gorlé

Dr. Gorlé attained a MSc degree in aerospace engineering from Delft University of Technology and a Phd from the Von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics in Brussels. She is a specialist in computational aerodynamics with a particular interest in aerospace and wind engineering and environmental computational fluid dynamics. Dr. Gorlé worked for the Boeing Company in Arizona and BMT Fluid Mechanics in London and currently holds a position as postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University, USA.

Mr. Myriam Van Varenbergh

Mr. Van Varenbergh attained her law degree form the University of Leuven. She joined the board in 2010 as a legal expert. She is a founding partner of the law firm Keuleneer, Storme,Vanneste, Van Varenbergh, Verhelst.

Dr. Ir. Jan De Backer – CEO

Dr. De Backer graduated from Delft University of Technology as aerospace engineer. He attained an MSc degree in aerodynamics and specialised in applied biomedical computational fluid dynamics leading to a PhD from the University of Antwerp. He has received several awards for his innovative research in the field of airway modelling in respiratory and sleep medicine. His work has been published in international journals. Within FluidDA he holds the position as Chief Executive Officer since 2007.
