Functional imaging in the cardiovascular field
The same imaging principles can be applied to the cardiovascular domain. Based on HRCT images with contrast the blood vessels can be segmented from the scans. From these models personalised assessment of the condition of the cardiovascular system can be made and also how the system interacts with pharmacological and device therapies. A few examples have been outlined regarding the segmentation, visualisation and simulaiton of floe in the coronary and pulmonary arteries and the formation of atherosclerotic plaques.
