ERS2022 – Transcutaneous PCO₂ in COPD patients

During the last ERS conference in Barcelona, Wendel Dierckx, who previously worked for Fluidda, and momentarily works for and conducts research at the MedImprove lung rehabilitation clinic in Kontich, Belgium, presented a poster on her latest findings.

She investigated the pattern of Transcutaneous PCO₂ in COPD patients during exercise and factors driving this CO₂ response.

Respiratory pump failure in COPD patients can lead to CO₂ retention during exercise, but little is yet known about the factors determining these CO₂ levels.

The conclusions of her investigations can be read in the poster below.
